Advertising: Debt Awareness

____As the first piece of advertising I ever did (2005), I feel this went quite well, and is still one of my favourite pieces to date. We were given a slap wrist if we went anywhere near a Mac for this project, and so everything had to be done by hand, including the type (which I could do a lot better nowadays!).

The brief was basically to create a series of posters to raise awareness of the 'UK Debt Meltdown'. Simple. I set about which a range of ideas but settled upon my finding debt being referred to as "in the red". This set off an idea which was simple but effective, in purely using colour as the attention grabber.

Note to self: Never underestimate the power of colour.

It was during the concept and creation of these that I really began to enjoy advertising, and I realised I quite liked illustrating even with markers too!

Note to self: Use this illustration style again in future.
